It was a magic day of rocketry today everyone !

Why : Weather couldn't have been better, no wind, blue skies and around +26C.

We had about a crowd of 300 people there, not as big as sometimes ( specially 2000+ as in July 2009) but a great crowd.

There are many new rocketeers that have joined QRS lately so there was no shortage of LPR action with MPR action also and lots of HPR !

Our Councilor for the area was there with her husband and all credit to her as she was not well at all, she still turned up.
I have naturally shared with her what we get up to at launches but actually being there was a real eye opener for her and her husband. They were stunned and impressed...really. Seeing the crowd also was something else and after introducing her to the public and how she has helped us she then shared on the mike about her thoughts.

When she pushed the button on the Intimidator 4 with Nic's donated K550W and it fired....she was awestruck..really. Both came with me to recover the rocket from a perfect launch.

Many, many great flights took place and two successful L2 attempts took place and I believe L1 also..fantastic !

it was a great day of rocketry indeed with a weather to match. Big thank you to all who helped with the set up and and putting all back again after launch. Thank you to all who volunteered in various duties as without you a launch like this simply can not happen !

Today was absolutely a perfect weather for rockets...it has been like that for 3 weeks basically. Blue skies, no wind and nice temp.

Today marked exactly 5 years from the day QRS held it's first launch at Chambers Flats which not only happened to be the 20th of May but also is the birthday of Homer Hickam's better half, Linda !

We were at our back up site which I like to call L2 (a) and it is a very nice site as was commented by number of our members.

There were few visitors present and again variety of rockets launched was fantastic.

Congratulations are on order for Ian ( ogivemeahome) for launching his Leaping Lizard on on A8 motor to 534 feet ( if my memory serves me right) which breaks his previous record by good 100 feet ! That is awesome. The altimeter was checked by RSO and one of our committee members to make it official. Well done mate.

Blake's CTI powered rocket with Skidmark propellant looked great as did many other launches on the day.

I had a very successful ground test of the OZ Area 51 with 18gr of BP pushing out the nose cone to it's max with chute etc. Leigh has a photo showing the distance. I will use 20gr when launching and back up of 25gr.

Thank you for all who attended and helped on the day. It was really great day of rocketry.

Today was a big day doesn't matter how I look at it. 

There were some rain clouds hanging around the "edges" specially early in the morning but they never came our way and day turned out to be perfect for rocketry.

Did we have few visitors...you bet. This would have been our second biggest crowd, around 1000+ people. 

The number of rockets being launched was high and it will be interesting to see how many actually once George does his "thing" with the launch cards.

No doubt about highlights of the day : Austin's ( Rob helped a bit) Pokemon rocket was so cool and his 100th launch, well done young man and the dad too ! Then the last launch of the day was 3 way drag race between Blake, Cart and Matthew on J350's. Looked cool as they all took off around the same time. 

Congrat's to Matt for his successful L2 attempt and I must say I feel real bad for Cart as his came in ballistic. 

Special news of the day : 1) Petar Nikolic and Len Forsyth were presented with life time memberships for their contribution to QRS. Huge congrat's to both fine gentlemen, well deserved indeed. 

Then Rob, Suzanne and Austin were presented with a A3 size "card" with QRS logo and it was signed by as many members as possible....this because the family is leaving us for a while. We all will miss them real bad, nicest people you could meet. They will always be part of us and I trust they'll be back.

Huge thank's to all those who helped and they are too many to even mention.

It sure was a perfect day to launch rockets indeed.
Just yesterday it was blowing a gale all day till late at night but by morning it was perfectly calm.
It was a relaxed small launch and it was fantastic to have special guest among us, PK himself all the way from Perth. It was great to see this "walking encyclopedia of a man" again and a true pleasure to have you attend our launch mate.
At least two new members joined today which is always positive.
There were many great flights on the day and then there was mine   . I have never done a core sample but today I managed a perfect one with the rocket that I have had for years, my original Callisto. It has flown a lot so it was time to say goodbye.
Thank you to Larry for towing the trailer to and from and all the members who helped on the day, very much appreciated.
Now we aim for the October public launch to make it a good one !

It sure was frosty at 6.30am at our launch area ! We had a cancelled public launch due to not knowing the future of our launch site till late June but there was around hundred visitors there anyway.
It was a huge pleasure to have Kryten paying us a visit and spending the morning with us. It was great to catch up with you mate !
Day was absolutely perfect for launching rockets with clear skies and very little wind.
After a very slow start the pace picked up and every one got to see many and varied rockets take to the skies.
Number of drag races took place and Damien was the losing part in all of them due to igniter problems. But he is such a good sport and took it all with great humour. Good o you mate.
Big thank's to Leigh for repairs to the LPR controller and to Ben W for the new remote controller which didn't miss a beat !
It was another fantastic day of rocketry !
