Launch Report – 10th January 2010

Photo by Leigh Metzroth, taken 10th Jan 2010January saw another great launch day!  The weather was hot and humid but there were mostly blue skies and basically no wind.  It was near perfect weather for launching rockets.

The first members arrived at the launch site before 6.15am, to setup and have a chat.  A big "Thank you!" goes to Ari, Alex, Shirley, Wayne and Jane for arriving early and setting-up the launch site.   There was a lot more great volunteer work done, for example, Shirley was handing out safety fliers to visitors and Brendan busy serving cold drinks and taking photographs.

There were just over 70 rockets launched at the February event.  The rocket motors used ranged from A right up to K.  A total of 8 high power rockets were launched.  You can view some photographs from the launch in the Photo Gallery.

Congratulations to Wayne Taylor for achieving his Level-1 high power certification.  Now it's on to Level-2.

Somewhere between 50 and 100 visitors came along to view the action and three new members signed-up on the day.  We should see a few new regular faces at the launch days.  Please make them feel welcome.
